Elena Rybakina also rallied past Coco Gauff in three sets to reach her first US Open final. In MLB, the Baltimore Orioles beat the Jays 7 to 4 after scoring five runs during a six-hit second inning against Max Scherzer. The Milwaukee Brewers clinched a playoff berth with a record-setting 20 to 0 win over the Cincinnati Reds, while Junior Caminero’s walk-off two-run homer sent the Tampa Bay Rays past the Houston Astros 3 to 1 and into the postseason.
Looking ahead, the US Open women’s final has new world number 1 Elena Rybakina facing two-time defending champion Aryna Sabalenka, who is chasing the tournament’s first women’s three-peat since Serena Williams. In LPGA golf, Europe and the United States resume the Solheim Cup tied 4-4 after Nelly Korda and Allisen Corpuz earned their record fifth consecutive win as a pairing. In MLB, the Jays get another home date with the Baltimore Orioles, with Spencer Arrighetti scheduled against Kyle Bradish.
