In PGA golf, Wyndham Clark won the BMW Championship at 17 under, three strokes clear of Patrick Cantlay. Clark’s five-shot lead disappeared through 11 holes, but a birdie putt from just outside 15 feet on 16 broke his tie with Rory McIlroy, and he birdied the final two holes for his third win of the season. In LPGA golf, Miyu Yamashita won the CPKC Women’s Open at 23 under, nine ahead of Yuri Yoshida, tying the LPGA’s lowest 72-hole score. In Formula 1, Lando Norris won the Dutch Grand Prix ahead of Kimi Antonelli and George Russell after passing Antonelli and Lewis Hamilton on the same lap. In ATP tennis, Arthur Fils beat Frances Tiafoe in three sets for his first Masters 1000 title. In WTA tennis, Coco Gauff beat Jessica Pegula in straight sets for her second Cincinnati crown. In MLB, the Jays lost 8 to 3 to the New York Yankees as Jazz Chisholm Jr. hit a two-run homer. In the CFL, Nathan Rourke threw for 355 yards and two touchdowns as the B.C. Lions beat the Saskatchewan Roughriders 30 to 16.
Looking ahead, MLB takes over Monday’s schedule. The Philadelphia Phillies visit the Seattle Mariners, with Kyle Schwarber coming off Sunday’s two-run walk-off homer and the Mariners trying to settle down after allowing 19 runs to the Chicago Cubs. Those Cubs now visit the Arizona Diamondbacks, whose lineup produced a 5 to 3 win over the Cincinnati Reds. The San Diego Padres host the Pittsburgh Pirates after San Diego scored eight runs Sunday while Pittsburgh was shut out. The Cleveland Guardians visit the Los Angeles Angels, and the Boston Red Sox open a series at the Miami Marlins. On Friday, the Jays begin a weekend home series against the Mariners. Beyond the scoreboard, the Las Vegas Raiders believe running back Ashton Jeanty suffered an ankle sprain at Sunday’s practice and do not expect the injury to be long term, though no recovery timeline has been set.
