Scottie Scheffler ran away with the PGA Tour’s FedEx St. Jude Championship, closing with a four-under 66 to win at 17 under by eight strokes. The world number one recovered from an early water ball, made consecutive birdies at five and six, and capped a week that included a course-record 61. On the LPGA Tour, Jeeno Thitikul won the Standard Portland Classic at 22 under, one stroke ahead of Chanettee Wannasaen and Arpichaya Yubol. In MLB, Ben Rice hit a two-run homer in the 10th as the New York Yankees edged the Jays 4 to 3, denying Toronto a sweep despite Dylan Cease reaching 10 strikeouts. The Baltimore Orioles beat the Tampa Bay Rays 10 to 2 behind a seven-run sixth inning, moving into the final American League wild-card position.

Looking ahead, in MLB, the Orioles remain in Tampa Bay with Brandon Young facing Shane McClanahan, who is scheduled to return from the injured list for the Rays. The Los Angeles Dodgers open at the Colorado Rockies after losing three of four to Milwaukee, with Jake Bauers collecting four hits and two RBIs against them Sunday. The Chicago White Sox cross town to face the Chicago Cubs, while the St. Louis Cardinals and Cincinnati Reds play a makeup doubleheader. In PGA golf, the BMW Championship begins Thursday at Bellerive, where Scheffler can move past Tiger Woods atop the career earnings list with a ninth-place finish or better. Beyond the scoreboard, in the NFL, eight-time Pro Bowler Von Miller is signing a one-year deal with the Dallas Cowboys after recording nine sacks last season, adding the active career leader in sacks to a rebuilt Dallas pass rush.
