Jays rally past Boston!

This is The Sports Reset for Wednesday August 12th

In MLB, the Jays beat the Boston Red Sox 5 to 3, with Ernie Clement bringing home the go-ahead run on a sixth-inning fielder’s choice. Brett Bateman drove in two, Myles Straw added an insurance single in the eighth, and Spencer Miles recorded his first career save. Dylan Cease struck out seven, raising his American League-leading total to 191, while Toronto handed Boston its fourth straight loss. The New York Yankees also beat the Seattle Mariners 4 to 1. Ryan McMahon and Trent Grisham each delivered two-run singles during a four-run seventh, turning around a game Seattle had led on Randy Arozarena’s solo homer. David Bednar closed it with two strikeouts for his 27th save.

Up next, in MLB, the Jays and Red Sox are back at Rogers Centre. José Soriano brings a 9-and-6 record and a 3.24 ERA for Toronto, while Boston answers with Ranger Suárez at 4-and-3 with a 3.32 ERA. The Yankees and Mariners continue their series in New York, while the Atlanta Braves host the New York Mets after Atlanta’s pitching held the Mets scoreless Tuesday. The Los Angeles Dodgers meet the Kansas City Royals again following their one-run game, and the Philadelphia Phillies try to respond against the St. Louis Cardinals after being shut out. Looking later in the week, the Jays remain home for a three-game set against the Yankees beginning Friday, a series with direct American League East implications.
