McAdoo lifts the Jays, Astros win in 10 innings, Jays and Red Sox meet again ... and more for August 11th
McAdoo lifts the Jays!
This is The Sports Reset for Tuesday August 11th
In MLB, the Jays edged the Boston Red Sox 2 to 1 at Rogers Centre. Charles McAdoo broke a scoreless game with a fifth-inning solo homer, his second of the season, and Andrés Giménez singled home George Springer in the sixth for the decisive run. Simeon Woods Richardson covered three innings after Jameson Taillon departed, and Louis Varland worked the ninth for his 25th save. Toronto improved to 57 and 63, while Boston fell to 64 and 54 with a third straight loss. Elsewhere, the Houston Astros beat the San Francisco Giants 6 to 3 in 10 innings. Jeremy Peña delivered the go-ahead single, then Isaac Paredes added a two-run double to secure the road win.
Looking ahead, the MLB focus stays at Rogers Centre, where the Jays and Red Sox meet again. Dylan Cease brings a 7-and-5 record and 2.28 ERA against Patrick Sandoval, who is 1-and-0 with a 3.38 ERA. Toronto is trying to build on a win powered by two timely swings, while Boston needs to stop its three-game slide. At Yankee Stadium, the Seattle Mariners visit the New York Yankees. New York’s 3.30 team ERA leads MLB, and its 167 home runs rank second, with Bryan Woo and Ryan Weathers scheduled to start. Later, the Kansas City Royals visit the Los Angeles Dodgers, the NL West leaders at 71 and 48. The four-game Toronto-Boston set continues Wednesday and Thursday.
