This is The Sports Reset for Sunday August 9th

In MLB, the Jays beat the Philadelphia Phillies 7 to 5. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. carried a team-best 323 batting average into the matchup, and Toronto found enough offence to win despite remaining well back in the American League East race. In WTA tennis, Carol Young Suh Lee defeated Gabriela Knutson in straight sets to win the Warsaw T-Mobile Polish Open. In UFC, Quillan Salkilld beat Mateusz Gamrot in the lightweight main event. In the CFL, the Montreal Alouettes rolled past the Edmonton Elks 48 to 30, while the BC Lions edged the Hamilton Tiger-Cats 27 to 24. Back in MLB, the Los Angeles Dodgers held off the Arizona Diamondbacks 2 to 1.

Looking ahead, the PGA’s Wyndham Championship comes down to a tight final round at Sedgefield Country Club. Michael Brennan and Beau Hossler share the lead at 16 under, with Tom Kim one shot behind in an event carrying an 8 million purse. In MLB, the Jays finish their set with the Phillies today. Toronto enters at 56 and 62, 15 games back in the East, with an offence ranked near the bottom of the majors in runs and OPS. The Dodgers also visit the Diamondbacks, with Shohei Ohtani leading Los Angeles with 23 home runs and the Dodgers holding first place in the National League West. Later this week, the PGA moves to Memphis on Thursday for the 20 million FedEx St. Jude Championship, the opening stop of the FedEx Cup playoffs.
