Koivun steals Sunday!

This is The Sports Reset for Monday July 27th.

In PGA golf, Jackson Koivun won the 3M Open at 25 under, three shots clear of Scottie Scheffler, and that was the story of the day. Koivun closed with a 5-under 66, went bogey-free for a second straight round, and held off Scheffler after the world No. 1 fired a 63 from five groups ahead. In Formula 1, Lando Norris won the AWS Hungarian Grand Prix, with Max Verstappen second and Kimi Antonelli third. On the LPGA, Jenny Shin took the ISPS HANDA Women’s Scottish Open at 9 under, two clear of A Lim Kim. In tennis, Luca Van Assche beat Alexander Blockx in three sets to win the ATP Millennium Estoril Open, while WTA titles went to Lilli Tagger in Prague, Francesca Jones in Palermo, and Tamara Korpatsch in Hamburg.

Looking ahead, MLB carries the day, with the Toronto Blue Jays in Washington against the Nationals after a 6 to 1 loss in Boston. The Seattle Mariners and Texas Rangers run it back in Arlington after Seattle’s 6 to 4 win Sunday, while the Atlanta Braves visit the New York Mets, and the New York Yankees try to move on from an 11 to 4 loss as they open against the Chicago White Sox. Later in the week, golf turns to the Rocket Classic in Detroit starting Thursday, with the PGA Tour playoff race tightening after Koivun jumped onto the FedEx Cup bubble with his win.
