Elsewhere, the Chicago Cubs beat the Baltimore Orioles 9 to 7, the New York Mets handled the Kansas City Royals 6 to 2, and the Cincinnati Reds beat the Philadelphia Phillies 11 to 5. At Wimbledon British wild card Arthur Fery beat Flavio Cobolli 6-4, 7-6, 6-0 to reach the semifinals, where Alexander Zverev is waiting after a 6-4, 6-4, 6-2 win over Taylor Fritz.

Resetting to today, the World Cup quarterfinal between Morocco and France at Gillette Stadium is the matchup to watch, with a semifinal place attached to one game and no room for a reset. In golf, the Genesis Scottish Open is underway with Tom Kim, Bernd Wiesberger, and Matt McCarty sharing the early lead at 5 under, while the ISCO Championship has Ricardo Gouveia, Chad Ramey, and Ivan Cantero tied at 1 under. On the LPGA side, The Amundi Evian Championship already has a clear early marker, with Aki Iwai at 8 under.
