Halys takes the final, Blue Jays blank Red Sox, Norris takes Hungarian GP pole ... and more for July 26th
Halys takes the final!
This is The Sports Reset for Sunday, July 26th.
In ATP tennis, Quentin Halys beat top-seeded Alexander Bublik in straight sets to win the Generali Open, stopping Bublik from repeating in Kitzbühel and giving the day its clearest tournament finish. In MLB, the Toronto Blue Jays answered a rough stretch with a 6 to 0 win over the Boston Red Sox, with Dylan Cease throwing a complete-game shutout and George Springer breaking it open with a three-run homer at Fenway Park. The New York Yankees beat the Philadelphia Phillies 3 to 1 behind home runs from Jasson Dominguez and Austin Wells, while Ryan Weathers punched out seven into the sixth. The Chicago Cubs also made it loud, beating the Pittsburgh Pirates 11 to 0 as Pete Crow-Armstrong had four hits and Shota Imanaga worked six scoreless innings.
Looking ahead, Formula 1 has the Hungarian Grand Prix at the Hungaroring, with Lando Norris starting from pole and Charles Leclerc beside him on the front row after qualifying penalties reshuffled the top group. In PGA golf, Jackson Koivun carries a three-shot lead into the final round of the 3M Open after a third-round 61 and a tournament-record 28 on the back nine, with Emiliano Grillo and Ben Kohles chasing at 17 under. In LPGA golf, Jenny Shin has a five-shot lead at the Women’s Scottish Open. In MLB, the Blue Jays continue their series in Boston, the Los Angeles Dodgers visit the New York Mets, and the Yankees are back in Philadelphia. In the CFL, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats visit the Montreal Alouettes, with Montreal sitting 5 and 1 after taking the first meeting in overtime. Later this week, the National Bank Open starts in Montreal and the AIG Women’s Open begins at Royal Lytham.
