Turner powers Philly!

This is The Sports Reset for Tuesday July 21st

In MLB, the Philadelphia Phillies beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 10 to 7, with Trea Turner hitting two homers, driving in five, and reaching 200 career home runs. Mookie Betts answered with two homers and two singles for the Dodgers, but Philadelphia got enough power around Turner to take the win. The Tampa Bay Rays handled the Jays 7 to 1 at Rogers Centre, as Cedric Mullins, Victor Mesa, and Nick Fortes each went deep, while Nick Martinez gave Tampa Bay six strong innings. The New York Yankees beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 8 to 5 behind two Jazz Chisholm Jr. homers, the Seattle Mariners blanked the Cincinnati Reds 8 to 0 with Cal Raleigh driving in five on a grand slam, and the Cleveland Guardians rolled past the Minnesota Twins 13 to 4. In WTA tennis, Mayar Sherif won the Iasi Open final after Paula Badosa retired in the second set.

Looking ahead, MLB has the same matchups back on the board today, with the Los Angeles Dodgers and Philadelphia Phillies carrying the most star power after Monday’s slugfest. Zack Wheeler gets the ball for Philadelphia with a 10 and 1 record and a 2.13 ERA, while the Dodgers come in at 63 and 37. The Jays get another shot at the Tampa Bay Rays at Rogers Centre, with Tampa Bay sitting first in the AL East while the Jays try to stop a slide. Elsewhere, the New York Yankees host the Pittsburgh Pirates, the San Diego Padres visit the Atlanta Braves, and the Cincinnati Reds try to answer in Seattle after being shut out.
